Supporting Your Body Holistically Through a Ureaplasma or Mycoplasma Infection

🌿 Introduction

Living with a Ureaplasma or Mycoplasma infection can feel like an invisible battle — persistent, painful, and often misunderstood. These bacteria are elusive and hard to eliminate, and the journey to healing is rarely straightforward.

This blog is a reflection of my own healing path — a blend of trial and error, intuitive listening, and a deep return to nature’s medicine. If you’re walking a similar road, know this: you are not alone, and your body has incredible wisdom.

✨ My Story: A Winding Path to Healing

My journey began with what felt like a typical UTI. I was prescribed Ciprofloxacin, a powerful antibiotic. While it brought temporary relief, the side effects were intense — I couldn’t walk comfortably for nearly four weeks.

Once I stopped the medication, things escalated. I experienced severe pelvic inflammation, muscle spasms, and sleepless nights filled with discomfort. Despite my suffering, my insurance refused to recognize Ureaplasma as a valid diagnosis — a common issue given how tricky these cell-wall-lacking bacteria are to detect and treat.

These microbes embed themselves in tissues like the bladder, evading the immune system. In response, the body often triggers chronic inflammation.

🔥 Recognizing Chronic Inflammation

You might be dealing with chronic inflammation if you notice:

  • Daily bloating (even after fasting)
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Unexplained facial redness or flushing
  • Teeth grinding during sleep
  • A persistent “off” feeling or fatigue

These are all gentle alarms — your body asking you to slow down and tend to its deeper needs.

🌼 What Helped Me Heal

After years of persistence, three negative test results, and a 95% reduction in symptoms, I can finally say my body feels whole again. Here’s what made the biggest difference for me — physically, emotionally, and energetically.

Phase 1: Supporting Your Body During Active Infection

🌿 Herbs That Helped

Oil of Oregano
A powerful natural antimicrobial. I took 2–5 drops (not essential oil) three times daily for 10 days. Always use a version labeled for internal use, and discontinue if you feel nauseous.

Andrographis
I followed up with this immune-boosting herb for five days to continue supporting my system. For women, if you can do this right before your period, your cycle can help clean out the rest of the infection. Eat clean during this time. You are either supporting yourself/immune system or helping the bacteria thrive based on the choices you make.

⚠️ Things to Avoid During This Phase

  • No baths, pools, or hot tubs – Avoid moisture exposure that can worsen symptoms.
  • Eliminate sugar, seed oils, and artificial ingredients – These feed inflammation.
  • Wear breathable cotton underwear – Keep the area dry and clean. Do not wash with soap. Only water. Give lots of love to this portion of your body.
  • Hydrate deeply – Drink fresh spring or distilled water.
  • Supplement wisely – I added Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Magnesium to nourish my system. Some people may choose zinc.

🌱 For UTI-Like Symptoms

Fresh Lemongrass Tea
A natural diuretic that helped reduce discomfort. Drink for up to five days and increase water intake to stay hydrated.

Phase 2: Post-Infection Healing & Symptom Management

🛁 Healing Herbal Baths

Uva Ursi Bath Ritual
Steep a handful of Uva Ursi in a mason jar filled with water and let it sit in the sun for 4 hours. Strain and pour into your bath. This anti-inflammatory herb can be drying, so stay well-hydrated. Always patch test first.

🧃 Juicing for Repair

At one point, I did a 30-days of fresh orange juice. It felt counterintuitive (hello, sugar!), but my body responded with deep healing and clarity. Sometimes, surrendering old beliefs opens space for intuitive healing.

🌿 Gut Support

  • Add Slippery Elm, Goldenrod, and Skullcap teas to your rotation. These herbs soothe the gut lining, offer antibacterial properties, and help calm the nervous system.
  • Consider a gut reset using a guided protocol like The Detox Dudes.
  • Get a food allergy test to uncover sensitivities that may be contributing to inflammation.
  • Do a stool test to check for other pathogens that might be silently affecting your system.

🥗 Diet & Lifestyle

  • Eat whole fruits, colorful vegetables, and clean proteins.
  • Tune into hunger cues — eat when you’re hungry, not when you’re stressed.
  • Gentle movement is healing. Try long walks, Yin or Kaiut yoga, or Tai Chi.
  • Prioritize rest and play. Your nervous system needs safety to heal. Drink lots of water. Plan for 10 hours of sleep no matter how much you actually are able to get.

🧘‍♀️ Healing Beyond the Physical

True healing asks us to reflect on the emotional and spiritual layers too.

Ask yourself:

  • Is there a part of your life that no longer feels aligned?
  • Is your body asking you to shift a relationship, a habit, or your environment?
  • What might happen if you truly honored your needs?

Sometimes, illness is the body’s way of inviting us into a deeper, more authentic version of ourselves.
